An Alumnus of IIT – Kharagpur and Havard Business School, Arjun Malhotra was the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Headstrong’s Board of Directors. He founded and built HCL from a six-person ‘garage operation’ in 1975 to one of India’s largest Information Technology corporations. Malhotra founded the Prof. G.S. Sanyal School of Telecommunications at IIT Kharagpur and is also one of the founding members of SPIC-MACAY – Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth. The Jerusalem Fund of AishHaTorah has honored Arjun Malhotra with the coveted Albert Einstein Technology Medal for 2001.
A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Chartered Engineer, Aloke Mookherjea brings along a vast and rich corporate experience spanning across many decades.Currently the Chairman of Flakt India Ltd, the Indian subsidiary Flaktwoods group, Mookherjea is involved deeply, as chairman/member of various boards, in the industrial activities in the state and the nation. In the past he has held top management positions, overseeing entire operations and functions. He has had country-wide responsibility for marketing, technology, R&D, Corporate Planning and Communication, Information Technology, HR, Quality Control, Process Improvement, Internal Consulting, etc.
A Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and an associate of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Samir Ghosh is an industry professional with work experience spanning over 40 years in India and overseas. He set up ITC’s Corporate Planning & Diversification division and headed it as Director, Corporate Strategy until his retirement as Vice Chairman, ITC. His experience includes business reconstruction, startups and management of change. He has been associated in advisory roles with Bank of America’s Local Advisory Board,Employers Federation of India, Tyre Manufacturers Association and has been a past President of Bengal Chamber of Commerce.
The Howard Gendal Professor of Marketing and Director, Earl V. Snyder Center for Innovation Management, Syracuse University, Prof. Tridib Mazumdar is an internationally recognized scholar in management studies. With over three decades of teaching experience in renowned academic institutions along with a distinguished career in the banking sector, Prof. Mazumdar earned his MBA and PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, his PGCGM from IIM and his B.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur.
Sandipan Chakravortty is the Chairman, Mjunction Services Limited. A B. Tech &M. Tech. from IIT Kharagpur, he completed his management course from Case Western Reserve University, USA. He held the post of President of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was also Chairman of various national and international organizations/associations. He is a Member of the Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur and is on the Advisory Council of many other Institutions.
Educated at Presidency College, Kolkata, and Cambridge University, U.K., Prof. Malabika Sarkar, FEA (UK) is a renowned academician who has been until May 2014, the Vice-Chancellor of Presidency University. Before that, she was Professor of English at Jadavpur University, Head of the Department of English, and member of the Jadavpur University Council from 1980 to 1985. She was a member of the UGC Panel of Experts in English and Foreign Languages and a panel member of NAAC. She is the President of the Women’s Coordinating Council (WCC), founded in 1960, and is currently the Principal Advisor (Academic) at Ashoka University.
A B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur with a degree in Cost Accountancy from ICMA as well as a PGCGM from IIM Kolkata, Subir Chaki is a Chevenning scholar under the aegis of the British Government and has completed a programme on Leadership of Change at the Leeds University. Subir Chaki has held senior management positions across several sectors like manufacturing, international sourcing, design/development and exports. He is a member of various advisory bodies in the government and the industry and has served as the Chairman of CII West Bengal Council. Presently, Chaki is a whole time Director at McNally Sayaji Engineering Ltd prior to which he was associated with Eveready for 25 years.
Professor Damodar Acharya, an alumnus of IIT Khargpur held many academic positions in his long career. He was the honorable Chairman of AICTE and has also served his alma mater IIT Kharagpur as its Director. Prof. Acharya earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, Masters and PhD from IIT Kharagpur. He has more than thirty years of diversified experience in teaching, research and academic administration in various institutions of repute in India.
Prof. Acharya has successfully handled his responsibilities as an able administrator as Chairman of Vinod Gupta School of Management and as Vice Chancellor, Biju Patnaik University of Technology. An active involvement in the logistics has earned the institutions a distinct place in the eyes of the students and the employers. His unique ability to combine academics with the industry oriented research and development has earned him both accolades and awards worldwide. He has been conferred with Fellowship of both Indian National Academy of Engineering and The National Academy of Sciences. Prof. Acharya’s lifetime contribution to Industrial Engineering has been recognized with the prestigious Lillian Gilbreth Prize,Viswesharaya Samman and Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society, USA award.
Chairman of the prestigious Centre for Studies on Social Sciences, Calcutta, and former Chancellor of the Central University for Tibetan Studies at Sarnath, Jawhar Sircar has earned great accolades in disciplines pertaining to the Indian Medieval history, such as religion, social history, culture and civilization. His extensive research on such diverse fields of Indian History has coined his exceptional analytical power and depth of knowledge, well-appreciated by great visionaries of this country. Jawhar Sircar has not only been recognized as an outstanding historian and interpretive anthropologist but also conferred with an acknowledgement of an ‘outstanding performer’ by the Hon’ble President of India. Having served the Indian Administrative Service for around 41 years, Jawhar Sircar has contributed, by and large, in leading India to the UNESCO Conventions on World Heritage, Intangible Cultural Heritage and Restitution of Cultural Properties. Several of his initiatives are part of our country’s Cultural Policies today. As the former CEO of Prasar Bharati, Sircar has also implemented complete transparency, cost-cutting and digitization in Doordarshan and Akashvani programmes, nulling obsolete technologies and dull governmental broadcasts.
With over 30 years of academic experience, Dr. Swagata Sen holds core competency in key areas related to Commerce, i.e., Accounting, Finance and Control. His strong practical background in fostering research-based education in the Indian diaspora has been an immense contribution for learners pursuing Doctorate studies. Present Vice Chancellor, University of Gour Banga, and former Professor of Commerce, Calcutta University, Dr. Sen has been an intensive contributor in some notable academic publications as well. He has chaired sessions at eminent International Conferences, and led a pivotal role of an evaluator in Major research projects under UGC. Apart from being an active member of several academic bodies in recognized Indian universities, Dr. Sen also holds membership of the Editorial Board of National and International Research Journals.
An alumnus of Harvard Business School and IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Bikram Dasgupta is an entrepreneur of repute – a man with a vision. An innovator, thinker and a passionate speaker, Bikram was among the core group of professionals who joined HCL in its infancy and his contributions, as one of the key Market Development Managers, have gone a long way in establishing the market presence that HCL commands today. A passionate, out-of-the-box thinker, who strongly believes in ‘ordinary people can do extraordinary things…‘ wetted his formative entrepreneurial zeal by helping build Pertech Computers Limited (PCL), in 1984. As the Promoter-Director, he steered the company through the initial difficult years and took a leading role in managing a diverse set of functions ranging from Sales & Marketing, to International Business Development and new strategic projects, elevating the company to the position of the No.1 PC manufacturer in India. With the fast changing IT landscape Bikram Dasgupta foresaw the need for a business model built around the fundamental concepts of Infrastructure and Institution to service the knowledge economy and in 1997 conceptualised Globsyn as a group of companies, which embodied that vision. On the institution building front, it has been Mr. Dasgupta’s lifelong zeal to develop young minds to enable them to face the challenges of the modern workplace and be productive from day one. It is in this mission that he conceptualised and pioneered the Globsyn Knowledge Finishing School™ System which bridges the growing gap between academics and industry through industry relevant programmes in a world class infrastructural setting. This, early innovator approach and concept, found expression through Globsyn Software Finishing School (GSFS) programmes at TECHNOCAMPUS in 1997, the then IBM Center for Excellence. Today under Mr. Dasgupta’s tutelage Globsyn has a faculty team teaching over 42 different management areas, in his B-School, addressing and training engineers in over 50 technology domains through the Finishing School system and addressing multiple domains in Business Process training, coupled with Human Excellence programmes in Behavioral Sciences, Voice & Accent, and other critical areas through Globsyn Skills. This huge repertoire of multidimensional training and teaching capability, facilitated by over 100 teaching professionals, is a unique and the first ever Campus of such integrated learning on Alternative Education in India.
Prof. Bhattacharya is a Metallurgist by profession and an MBA from Cranfield Business School, UK. Prof. Bhattacharya has also completed a programme on ‘Strategic Thinking and Management’ from Wharton Business School, U.S. Prof. Bhattacharya joined Indian Oxygen Ltd. (now BOC India Ltd.) initially as General Manager-Operations and finally rose to the level of Chief Executive, Eastern Region. He was also the Senior Vice President-Marketing, with one of the Aditya Birla Group Companies before switching over to Academics and Consultancy. He carries more than 30 years of industrial management experience in Operations, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Strategy and General Management. Prof. Bhattacharya has been teaching Marketing, Industrial Marketing, Marketing of Services, Strategic Marketing, Strategic Management and other topics as visiting Professor in many renowned business schools. He has been a visiting professor at IIM-Calcutta for about 20 years. He has conducted more than 30 Management Development Programmes and has published and presented a number of papers in India and abroad. He has first hand experience in Strategic Alliances, Brand Building in Industrial Markets, Corporate Marketing, Relationship Marketing, Loyalty Building etc. He has been a Consultant in the area of Strategic Management with both national and international assignments.
