Two Year Full Time Post
Graduate Diploma in Entertainment & Media Management
The Flagship programme for GEMS is a unique
mix of traditional and emerging technical skill development
on the fundamental bedrock of management education. Conceived
as a management diploma in entertainment and media, the
programme is essentially 60% technology and 40% management
that exposes the students to several domains in the industry
and trains them to be managers spanning these domains. The
major areas of coverage include:
Media
Overview and Orientation:
This module creates a broad appreciation about the entire
gamut of the entertainment and media industry with exposure
to psychology, sociology, audio visual, mass communication,
media studies and the like. This module connects the development
of media industry with global socio-cultural milieu in order
to internalise the emerging media trends of today.

Television
and Radio Production:
This module exposes the students to technology and aesthetics
of television and radio medium in order to create hands
on competency in these domains. The module will cover programme
ideation and direction, production planning, camera techniques,
site planning etc.

Animation
and Special Effects:
This module is meant to develop indepth technical skills
in the area of animation by exposing the students to motion
graphics, animation techniques, 2D and 3D animation, compositing
techniques, special effects and project deconstruction.

Post
Production Techniques:
Postproduction techniques are critical to the understanding
of media technology. This module will cover digital video
editing, audio recording and editing and audio computing
whereby students will develop in-depth hands on competency
in these techniques.

General
Management:
This is one of the most critical areas of the course whereby
students will be exposed to the principles marketing, financial
management, organisational behaviour etc. This module develops
the concept of organisation and the interplay among its
various constituents among the students through which the
students learn to appreciate the fineprints of structured
creativity.

Media
Management:
This module is the major differentiating factor in the programme
through which students internalise the concept of developing
a structured analytical mindset to creativity. The module
exposes the students to indepth concepts of consumer behaviour,
branding, advertising, direct marketing, media planning,
media research, media management, media finance and marketing,
media laws and the like. This module integrates the entire
technical learning from the previous modules to create a
managerial appreciation of the entertainment and media industry.
The pedagogy will comprise of classroom
sessions, hands on skill sessions, indoor and outdoor projects
and intensive industry interactions. In combination this
level of exposure will make the students absolutely ready
for the industry from the very outset.
