A decade later when the face of IT industry in the country was changing fast Mr. Dasgupta foresaw the need for a business model built around the fundamental concept of infrastructure and institution. In 1995 he returned to the city where he started his life – Calcutta, a city popular for its cultural heritage and not so popular for its work culture and there he founded ‘Globsyn’ as a group of companies which embodied his vision of merging infrastructure and institution. As a group company Globsyn is known to provide innovative solutions to its customers in the field of Education, Training, Software, and Infrastructure.
In a career spanning close to three decades Mr. Dasgupta has given many firsts to the country which includes – ‘Infinity’ – the first IT park of the country, ‘TechnoCampus’ – South Asia’s first IBM Centre of Software Excellence, ‘Young Software Manager’ (YSM) program – introduction of India’s first Software Finishing School TM system, ‘Globsyn Business School’ – the first corporate B-School, ‘Globsyn Crystals’ – the first Work Habitat, ‘Globsyn Infotech’ – worldwide provider of software solution to the BFSI sector, and ‘Asian Institute of Family Business’ – India’s first institute dedicated to family business.
Skill Development which has been Mr. Dasgupta's passion has today found independent expression in the form of Globsyn Skills – a Joint Venture with the Ministry of Finance promoted National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Setup in 2010, Globsyn Skills is slated to train 3.52 Lakh youth over a period of 10 years.
A charismatic and articulate speaker Mr. Bikram Dasgupta has a deep interest in mentoring young minds and he regularly delivers lectures at various national and international forums. He has also written ‘Minds on Fire: An Infotech Entrepreneur’s Journey’ which is being used as case study in many top B-schools of the country.
A passionate out of the box thinker Mr. Dasgupta firmly believes that one has to perform to get recognition. And to be able to perform, one has to be at ease with oneself. Inner conflict leads to disharmony. Life’s battles must first be fought internally.
