Setting out for just feasibility or capability does not qualify a project or person for the stretch factor. To create stretch within yourself you need to think beyond the ordinary, to have extraordinary expectations. From yourself. From everyone else. And have or resource the wherewithal to fulfil those expectations. The translation into reality is an essential requirement in the self-pressure model. It is the easiest thing in the world to have grandiose dreams but activating them, turning them into reality, is quite another, as doers understand only too well. For the dreamer-doer the horizons he sees in his mind's eye serves to open up those without, and vice versa. Edison says,".... creation of an idea is one part of the process, development is much more". In the end, developing and doing is everything.
My work philosophy, even the philosophy I live by has always been to optimise, then maximise and finally, to extremise. To think, that is, in extremes and to try and deliver in superlatives! It does sound a little over the top, but I fervently believe in it. If a thing is being done well it's worth doing even better.
